Pinoy LUG x BatCon | Recap Highlights



The weekend in Metro Manila was packed with events from local conventions and other launches. But if you’re a Batman fan and into LEGO you must have attended the recently concluded Batcon by TDK PH, which PinoyLUG has participated with a special Dark Knight-centric diorama and display.


Besides the highly anticipated Batman event in the Philippines this also commemorate the 80th anniversary of the character’s first appearance in the comicbooks appearing on Detective Comics #27 dated May 1939. If that wasn’t enough Batcon cements itself as one of the biggest event in Southeast Asia.

Paolo Ollero and his like-minded Bat-fans have pulled the most successful event caper that no Batman community has ever done. Teaming up with like-minded communities and individuals who showed adoration for the greatest dark knight detective in pop culture DC Comics has ever introduced eighty years ago.





With all the teasing the past months about Batcon 2019 will go down as one of the events that you should not miss. But in case you haven’t had the chance to travel to the Movie Stars Café where the event is held here’s the rundown on the highlights of the event that held last Saturday of 19 October 2019…











BatCon X PinoyLUG Display

The most visible display piece at the heart of the Movie Star Café that you’ll ever see is the LEGO Diodisplay featuring some of the most intricate and well-detailed display pooled from the community’s most passionate Batfans from PinoyLUG.

Beside some of the rare and Bat-astic set up ever assembled for this event. This also feature two Mosaics featuring the LEGO Batman Movie and every pieces put together to give you this artwork that you’ll ever find in this event. There are also some MOCs (My Own creation) by Billy Lee featuring some unique Batman-inspired cars and Dave Quindoy's version of Batmech-inspired machines.

Certainly, the Masters of Good Vibes are all displayed why this community has been active in this kind of gatherings and spreading inspiration of just being awesome.







TEQKnight Exclusive

Quiccs the toy designer of the popular TEQ63 art toy has become a gem for collectors all over the world and Bulletpunk was also at the BatCon with the collaboration with TDK PH to release a very limited edition “TEQKnight” that was the highly coveted and first exclusive for this year’s event.

The guardian of Hidden Fortress was on-hand to present the limited edition figurine and also did some autograph signing and photo opportunity with his ever growing fans of his TEQ63 and why BatCon has established its own identity with its unique exclusive not found in other cons in the country.



Kevin Porter Panel

For those who are into watching fan films and into the Batman community you’ll probably heard of Kevin Porter. The man was the highlight guest who did panel talks on stage and interviewed by some of the geekiest bat-fans you know and adored. Beside Kevin there was Joe Barra producer of Bat in the Sun, who also was present that accompanied Kevin in this event.

Kevin also was the down-to-earth dude every fan deserved as he was game for photo opportunity and signing some autographs as well as hanging out with every random individual who attended the event last Saturday.



Bat Cosplay on Stage

With every up and coming conventions clearly there will be every Bat-fan suiting up for this event participating in their full regalia as Batman or other familiar character from Gotham City. The stage was packed with all the Batman characters you’ll probably know and the Jokers were also highly represented.

Even one of the members of PinoyLUG was putting a smile on everyone’s face with his make-up that screams that show’s that laugher that defined BatCon last Saturday was an overjoyed success that teases a big one will be happening in 2020.



Lastly, this one goes out to each and every PinoyLUG member, who participated on this event and made it happen. BatCon was a success because of your help and support, this is not just a job by a man dressed as a Bat, but a Bat-Team that pooled every resources to represent the AFOLs to pop culture fans and the community.

Another success means there's more happening in the pipeline and you can bet the Masters of Good Vibes are not stopping until the next one. But surely last Saturday was something special for all AFOLs. Stay tuned for more, soon!
