PinoyLUG x Batman 80 Years | #LongLiveTheBat
Batman is celebrating 80 Years since appearing in the pages of Detective Comic Issue No. 27 cover dated May 1939 that was published and was available on newsstands on March 1939. The celebration originally kicked off with the release of Detective Comics Issue No. 1000 early in March 2019 and pocket events have followed.
If you haven’t heard the announcement of several events related to Batman’s 80th year celebration local fandom in Manila namely TDK PH (The Dark Knight Philippines) is gearing up to their annual event with BatCon 2019 this October, but before all this special event over the past weekend was the annual Batman Day.
The triple threat event that started with League Con this Friday, Batman Day Event with participating local Bookstore and Comic Shops, and the Batman at 80 Years with SM Super Malls together with Pacific Licensing Studio (Official Licence for DC Comics properties in the Philippines), and Ban Kee Trading Inc (Local Distributor for LEGO Brand in the Philippines) team-up with PinoyLUG (Pinoy LEGO® User Group) with a special exhibit featuring the Dark Knight Detective.
For PinoyLUG it was an opportunity to feature some of the passionate Bat Fandom within the community through their personal collection housed in two acrylic displays that is set-up in a diorama mixed with sets from LEGO® Batman Movie™ and LEGO® DC Comics Super Heroes range as well as inspired MOCs (My Own Creation) to add flavour to the Batman Mythology in LEGO® is something to inspire young minds about the cape crusader, but also give imagination in putting together their version of what Batman is in their perspective.
Some of the visitors at this exhibit are impressed by the sheer volume of various Batman sets from the Batcave scene from the Classic 1960s Series that starred by Adam West (Batrman) and Burt Ward (Robin) to the sets that appeared on LEGO® Batman Movie™ that most who have seen the animated feature film would not notice some of them in the background scenes that became a LEGO® Set.
LEGO® Batman Shrine
The first acrylic display is more about the “Batman Theme” that featured the technology includeing the iconic Batmobile and other vehicles inspired and developed by the cape crusader that takes back to the 1960s to the recently released LEGO® Batman Movie™ that where produced as exclusive sets.
Almost all of the sets displayed are officially released by LEGO® with some are MOCs by contributing Bat Fans that have their collections featured in this display.
30524 Mini Batwing
70908 The Scuttler
70909 Batcave Break-in
70916 The Batrwing
70917 The Ultimate Batmobile
70923 The Bat Space Shuttle
76052 Batman Classic TV Series Batcave
76117 Batman Mech VS Poison Ivy Mech
The Bat Symbol is a MOC (My Own Creation) that is more inspiration and amalgamation of Bat emblems from Animation, comicsbooks, movies, and videogames that is made entirely of red bricks.
LEGO® Batcave Diorama
The second acrylic display gives you a preview of the actual sets currently available for 2019, which can be seen on local retail through Landmark, Rustan’s, Toy Kingdom, Toys R’ Us, and Toytown stores as well as LEGO® Certified Stores.
To give more detail on the sets available locally here’s a list that featured these sets in this batcave diorama scene below:
76119 Batmobile: Pursuit of the Joker
76120 Batwing and the Riddler Heist
76122 Batcave Clayface Invasion
76137 Batman VS the Riddler Robbery
76138 Batman and the Joker Escape
The Batcave set-up and diorama is a MOC (My Own Creation) display that certainly fits well with the theme, where the Batmobile emerges in the scene only to be ambushed by The Joker. While another scene happening featuring Shazam that’s trying to find the culprit behind the incident near the GCPD squad car.
There are interesting sets that your child or Bat Fans would certainly find this an impressive display for your collections. You can find both the display as part of the Batman 80 Years Celebration happening from 21 September to 5 October 2019 at the SM City Fairview featuring other special exhibits.
