Pinoy LUG | TEQ63: Manila Killa

Pinoy LUG is not just a community about LEGO it is about supporting those who helped the group over the years with the past collaboration. This past weekend some of the members of Pinoy LUG showed support and did a special coverage on QUICCS’ first ever Solo Art Show titled “Manila Killa” which launches a special metallic edition of the TEQ63 Art Toy dubbed the “Manila Killa” Encore Edition.

Quiccs and the Bullet Punk Network had previously collaborated with PinoyLUG in 2018 to produce the first ever limited edition “Brickboy Exclusive” that was released for the Bricktober 2018 Anniversary.

To give back the successful collaboration with PinoyLUG, the group was present over the weekend for Quiccs’ first Solo Art Show at Secret Fresh. The huge turnout during Sunday morning’s event was indication that the toy launch and art show was a resounding success capping off the event with a special auction.

This was also a teaser on PinoyLUG’s exclusive community shirt featuring “Brickboy” as worn by PinoyLUG Ambassador Leslie Araujo during the event. In case you missed out the weekend’s festivities here are some of the images of the event that defined the success of the show…

Metallic Encore Edition

Through a lottery pick there are fifty packs of the “Metallic Encore Edition” comprised of the first ever MicroTEQ, the standard TEQ63, and the MegaTEQ where sold to a limited number that has been highly sought after by collectors. This was raffled off through a limited slot of fifty individuals early Sunday morning.

Besides that four exclusive paintings featuring TEQ63 was sold out that day and what was impressively wild to close out the event was the auction night, where four art toys was auctioned at the gallery and at the same time online. Most of the winners that night were local bidders from the Philippines taking home the coveted art pieces.

Evolution from Bricks to Art Toy with LEGO

LEGO is considered an ‘Art Toy’ from a kid’s imagination to an adult’s creation as the collaboration with PinoyLUG and QUICCS shows that both can produce something special with last year’s Brickboy. This is an indication that the community is ahead of the curve now that LEGO recently released its own official ‘art toy’ through the LEGO Originals first Minifigure woodcarving.

For those who hasn’t have fully grasp what an ‘Art Toy’ is actually a sculpture featuring the visual artists’ artwork instead of a painting in the form the figurine hence the TEQ63 that was launched this past weekend. The same goes with how LEGO is promoting the recently revealed Originals.

Wrapping up the event the PinoyLUG team was present supporting Quiccs and also teased of the next shirt design for the community and in case you’re curious the shirt depicts the group’s Brickboy and the Bullet Punk Network skull logo as another collaboration with Quiccs is the next thing for the community.
