Pinoy LUG | AC Pin in Manila - Meet and Greet

If there is something true Filipinos are good at is gratitude of appreciation and that family type of environment despite not being directly related. PinoyLUG thrive not just a community but being true to being a laid back Filipino cultured community about having a rare relatively simple gathering with good and sharing true passion and adoration for the hobby that is LEGO.

AC Pin (aka Amado Canlas Pinlac) was in town with his supportive wife, Marleth and met with the PinoyLUG team for a lunch date just to reconnect with the local LEGO community. The New-Jersey-based Filipino Masterbuilder was just hanging out and talking about his most recent exhibits and other communities around the world.

The well-travelled Masterbuilder shares his stories about his first exhibit at the LEGO House and how he got the call to be part of the permanent fixture inside the house that LEGO built, which he shares that it was extended for another few months.

A Masterbuilder's Story from New Jersey

There are already a lot of features throughout the LEGO community about AC Pin’s journey from diorama builds to his signature Flower MOCs that continues to impress a lot of people. But what makes AC being genuine is his compassion towards kids and having great conversations with people from all walks of life that’s why everyone appreciates his creations just being down to Earth and humbled by his adoration for LEGO and he shares some little things with PinoyLUG.

The experience goes beyond LEGO and he shared also the story how his diorama builds became part of an annual exhibit at the East Brunswick Public Library, where he shares his collections, dioramas, and MOCs that has become part of the libraries’ event activities. Rarely, you hear that libraries still exist in other countries, but to hear his stories how the library keeps extending his displays means people likes to see LEGO creations and it opens up interest for kids and even adults to take up the hobby.

Publications and Photo Books

AC has slowly built a portfolio that can be considered to be turned into a coffee table book, which he has presented what considered something like that as a one of the presents for PinoyLUG as he shared his journey through the images he compiled in his most recent trips from his hometown in New Jersey, Manila, and to Billund where he was the first Filipino to ever had an exhibit inside the LEGO House.

Besides that little project he’s cooking up there was a special article that featured him on the Brick Journal (published only in the US) with cover month February 2019, which is the 55th issue of the magazine that also feature other LEGO enthusiasts and Masterbuilders. If you’re keen eyed you’ll notice PinoyLUG in his exhibit at the LEGO Certified Store in Ayala 30th Mall back in April 2018.

He also shared his most recent one-day only exhibit at Barnes & Nobles in Menlo Park Mall, which he had published as flyers given away featuring PinoyLUG in the photo with him that was taken also during the above mentioned exhibit in Manila. It was great catching up with AC and Marleth as PinoyLUG thanks the Pinlac for taking their time and giving as supportive advice for the community and we’ll see them both again very soon!
