PinoyLUG | #BuildToGive Project

Hello guys, its been a while since I shared my thoughts here. And I really miss it! Inspiring people on what we can do, how we do it, and the ability to make things happen is really one of our key strengths.

For almost 5 years now of being an Ambassador for PinoyLUG here in Manila, Philippines. It is always absolute joy that we get to do these kinds of projects. I am thankful for the oppotunity to lead my members who joined and gave their time, care and presence to be with these kids at the shelter.

Founded in 1913, Asociacion de Damas de Filipinas, Inc. (ADFI) is a child care facility for abandoned, neglected, orphaned, foundling and dependent children who are in need of special care.

True to what was planned for this year, The team and I, agreed on shifting our direction to give more time to play, inspire and be big brothers and sisters to kids.
And what a way to start the year by filling our hearts with positive energy this first quarter. Backed up by our local LEGO Certified Store partnership, we have 100 pieces of donated LEGO "duck" polybags form our previous Bricktober event to be used in this project.

Our partners also donated school supplies and food snacks for the event.

The day started all smiles filled with fun bricktivities, learnings and playtime. Later during the day we drove them on an activity of which they have to build their dreams and help with dreams of others with the use of bricks. Collect and work as one, unify the dream and later explain to everyone what they created. Equipping every single one of them with creativity, teamwork and the ability to express themselves.

Along with this event is a small display set-up for the kids to enjoy. The kids also shared with us adorable multiple song and dance presentation.

We are planning to do more of these kinds of events in different parts of the metro. The chief facilitor of the shelter thanked us for being heroes for being family to these children. Taking care of them and having playtime of which we were informed that they never had a LEGO play session ever and realized the impact of fun and creativity it brings. They were also amazed with the numerous bricks we brought.

I told them that we will be back. We will share our love and time. Love after all is presence.

Glad and happy to be a family to these kids even for a day. I hope the joy and learnings we shared that day will last a good memory and made a difference.

It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
