PinoyLUG Couples: AFOL Duos Who Inspire

Love is indeed in the air. And this February, we feature the PinoyLUG Couples who continue to inspire us with their love for each other, for their family and for their extended PinoyLUG Family.

Truly these AFOL Duos prove to us that more than building creations from bricks, relationships are the ultimate creations of love.

AFOL Duo 1: Paul Marvin Go and Ruby Ann Solis-Go

How long have you been married together? 7 years

So who is into Lego? Me (Paul) originally, over time my wife has learned to appreciate it as well when I convinced her to try to build the Pet Shop modular building by herself. The PinoyLUG community played a big role as well, we both gained a lot of new and awesome friends that I guess we will never get to meet if it wasn’t for LEGO.

Which specific theme are you interested in? Everything. With the amount of great stuff LEGO releases year after year, it’s very hard to focus on just one theme.  Mains are Technics and modular buildings & houses but I have a bit of just about every theme.

Who has the last say with regards to your Lego purchases? Paul...usually
Does Lego improve your relationship as a couple? I can’t say it that it improved our relationship but I can say it doesn’t hurt it.  I know a lot of AFOLs would agree that it is an achievement in itself.

What is your advice for PinoyLUG couples out there?  Unless you are lucky enough to have an AFOL wife, chances are it’s going to be an uphill climb for you to make him/her understand your obsession with LEGO.  You could maybe try to let her build something that appeals to her. But if all else fails, know this – God, your wife, your family, these should ALWAYS take precedent in your life’s priorities and decisions.

Do not postpone your anniversary to go to BxB, to not use your child’s tuition fund to buy the new Death Star, it may be funny but people actually do this.  I always say that LEGO, as much as we love it, is a hobby, an escape, a toy, not life itself.   If you understand this, I think you and your wife will be alright.

AFOL Duo 2: Mu and Dee Florentino

Does Lego improve your relationship as a couple?
Yes, it’s time spent together building.  With our nieces and nephews as well.   We both know it’s an investment.
What is your advice for PinoyLUG couples out there?
The family that builds together stays together!

AFOL Duo 3: Jonjon and Amy Principe

Does lego improve your relationship as a couple? Yes, building together serves as our quality time. Our time to share our ideas, time to laugh, time to destress. It requires constant communication and cooperation that is applicable to our daily life.

What is your advice for PinoyLUG couples out there? True love isn't found. It's built. 💕

AFOL Duo 4: Noel Villarama and Kathy Santiago

How long have you been together?
Almost 9 years already. 😍

So who is into Lego?
Hubby collects Lego more than Wifey.

Which specific theme are you interested in?
We are both interested mostly on City and Creator sets.

Who has the last say with regards to your Lego purchases?
Most of the time the Wifey. But sometimes Hubby's being sneaky. 😂😜

Does lego improve your relationship as a couple?
We've met in a toy collectors' group forum way back. We can say that the passion for collecting toys brought us closer and ended up having each other. Our common interests draw us together but it will not keep us together. It takes more than that.

Our advice? DO NOT collect Lego! Hahaha! 😂

Kidding aside, toys (particularly Lego) keep our family closer together. The excitement we have as a couple whenever we acquire toys for ourselves, especially the hard-to-find ones, doesn't come close to the eagerness we bring to our children's faces when they receive one. Priceless! 😍

Because Lego is fun for all ages, it is an awesome way to spend quality time with the kids. Building blocks while building bonds. 😉👍🏼☺️

Toy collecting is definitely enjoyable but sometimes can be a source of arguments. The best thing to do is to define your priorities, know your limits and compromise. 😊
